ABOUT VOTE16MO
CREATION OF VOTE16MO
The Vote16MO Campaign was launched on March 1, 2023. Founder DJ Yearwood launched the Vote16MO Campaign after discussions of lack of youth engagement, ongoing taxation without representation, and low voter turnout rates brought lowering the voting age in local elections to the forefront of Missouri's young minds.
BALLOT INITIATIVE CAMPAIGN
The Vote16MO Campaign is working toward the Missouri Legislature placing the Vote16MO Initiative on the November 5, 2024 ballot as a referendum. On this referendum, voters will decide whether or not Missouri will lower the voting age in nonpartisan local and school board elections to 16. This minimum age would only be for City Council and public school districts' Board of Education elections.
NONPARTISAN INITIATIVE
Vote16MO is not affiliated with, or at the benefit of, any political party, political action committee, political movement, candidate, candidate's committee, or partisan effort.
